Marker 着 is one of the oldest and uniquely units of the modern Chinese language which is widely used in translated as well as non-translated Chinese texts. Such a wide use of the marker enables to make it a case of study of the translation universals. Translation universals are regular patterns that characterize the language of translated texts. The purpose of the present study is to find translation universals in Chinese texts translated from Russian. The universals will include “under-representation” and “irregular use of equivalents”. Marker 着 that is used with the verbs as adverbial and modifier will be analyzed in order to study the aforementioned universals. An analysis will be conducted with the use of parallel and comparable corpora.
