This work relates to the research area that focuses on the topic of outbound tourism in China. The goal of the current study is to identify the main trends, development factors and future prospects of outbound tourism in China, as well as to estimate the influence of this industry on China's cooperation with other countries. The theoretical part of this research defines the key concepts of tourism economy, analyzes the evolution of its impact on the economy of a country, reveals the features of the development process of tourism industry in China. The second part of the research highlights relevant factors affecting the outbound tourist demand in the country under study, examines changes in the directions of its tourist flows, determines the role of outbound tourism in China’s interactions on a global scale, considers the attractiveness of Russia for Chinese tourists. The main conclusion of this work is that outbound tourism in China has become one of the main drivers of its economic and social development. At the same time, it is important to mention the large role of the government of China in this process. By changing its domestic and foreign policies the government controls outbound tourist flows, which allows it to use tourism to establish favorable conditions for economic interactions with other countries and, therefore, increase the role of China on the global stage. As for the perspectives of Russia, on the one hand, it has a number of unique advantages that contribute to the growing interest of Chinese tourists in visiting this destination. But on the other hand, the existence of certain weaknesses prevents the increase of inbound tourist flows from China. The methods proposed in this work can eliminate these problems and contribute to the growth rates of visits to Russia. Keywords: China, outbound tourism, tourist flows, development factors, current trends, influence on the Chinese economy, tourism between Russia and China.
