The process of continuous development of economic activity imposes certain changes not only in the implementation of financial transactions themselves, but also in the terminology of the linguistic system, which implies the appearance of certain features in the terminology concepts associated with a particular professional activity. Given the fact that due to the process of globalization and cultural integration, the economic systems of various countries are developing, the terminology systems associated with these professional fields are also in constant development and are undergoing quite strong changes through external influence. The research hypothesis is that in the finance and banking terminology system of the Russian language there are fewer polysemantic terms than in the structure of the English banking term system. This research paper is of theoretical value from the point of view that it studies in detail the special characteristics and current gaps in the terminology systems of the Russian and the English banking terminology and examines the problem of polysemantic terms in financial terms of the Russian and English languages. In this work, we pursue the following practical purpose: the investigation of one of the identified linguistic features – the polysemantic terms in the terminological systems of the Russian and the English language by the example of terminological concepts taken from the dictionaries of banking terms of the two languages. The results of the theoretical and practical parts of our research, related to the identification of the problem of terminological expressions ambiguity, will contribute to the development of the research process of this problem.
