Market Transformations of the PRC Economy in the Transition from the Principles of Acquisition to the Model of Joint Consumption, and Increasing Its Competitiveness

This study is aimed to discover major changes in PRC economy which have occurred under the influence of transition to the sharing economy. The following research problems have been addressed: it was studied how the sharing economy was defined throughout the previous research; main trends of sharing economy’ segments in and outside of China have been compared; it was analyzed what changes of PRC’s economic indicators have occurred from the beginning of transition to the sharing economy; main motives of Chinese citizens to use the sharing economy services have been discovered with the help of the survey; the conclusions about the influence of collaborative consumption on the Chinese economy and society have been made based on this study. Research methods of this study: analysis of statistical data, which is connected to the economic transformation in China and fast development of the sharing economy; interpretation of the questionnaire’s results with the help of SPSS software; besides, such methods as analogy, classification, comparison and compilation have been used. The first chapter of the study explores the theoretical background of the sharing economy and international practice of implementing collaborative consumption services. The second chapter is devoted to the analysis of the influence of the sharing economy on PRC macroeconomic indicators, furthermore, main peculiarities and problems of the sharing economy services in China have been described. The third chapter includes analysis of the questionnaire with the SPSS software and the interpretation of the results. This study’s findings, questionnaire data and analysis of economic indicators might be used in the further research. Keywords: collaborative consumption, PRC economy, questionnaire, transformation
