Recently, an increasing number of scholars have expressed interest in exploring Chinese traditional music. This study shows the need to study the «lü-lü» music system, which has influenced Chinese music culture. Therefore, the main purpose of the study is to identify the influence of the musical scale «lü-lü» on the formation of Chinese traditional music. At the moment, very small numbers of research has been done to study the works of Zhu Zaiyu (1584-1596), which are the main source of information about the scale of the «lü-lü». The fifth chapter of Zhu Zaiyu’s book, “yuelü quanshu” is used as the main source. Additional information is provided by Russian studies (Eremeev, 2005; Malyavin, 2000) and studies by foreign scientists (Richard, 1898; Levis, 1963). The study was carried out in two stages. The comparative method is used first. Then an analysis of traditional Chinese tunes is used. The comparative method helps to compare the European and Chinese music system. The analysis of musical works helps to reveal the influence of the scale «lü-lü». This study may provide a better understanding of the influence the «lü-lü» system on Chinese musical art.
