Abstract With the rapid development of economy and the acceleration of urbanization, the Chinese society in the transition period has undergone tremendous changes in people's way of thinking, behavior, and values under the wave of globalization, there are a group of unmarried women in Chinese society. They are called "leftover women" and "leftover women phenomenon" is a typical reflection of social change. This paper combines qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, as well as the application of comparative analysis in part of the article. Based on the data analysis of China's overall marital status, this paper mainly takes unmarried women as the sample object, deeply understands its current situation and causes, and obtains detailed data through the relevant population and marriage statistics of the National Bureau of Statistics of China. Through the analysis, it is found that "leftover women" have higher requirements for matching their personalities; the traditional concept of "men are higher than women are lower" is deeply rooted; higher education level makes them have more meta values; the promotion of women's social and economic status makes them demand more independent and independent lifestyle. These characteristics fully reflect the influence of the internationalization and diversification of politics, economy, and culture on the "leftover women" in the period of social transformation in China. Finally, this paper suggests that we should build a marriage guidance strategy of individual, family, society and other aspects, encourage "leftover women" to make full use of new media such as the Internet, strive to expand the communication circle, and strengthen the construction of their own concept of marriage and love, so as to solve the problem of marriage and love quickly and effectively. Keywords: Contemporary Women, Gender, Unmarried Women Phenomenon, Mate Selection Criteria, Notion of Marriage, 剩女shèngnǚ.
