Influence of Deal Announcement Timing during Merger Waves on M&A Performance in Developed Countries of European Union

Mergers and acquisitions are becoming a more popular way to develop business. So it is important to understand what factors influence performance of these deals. This investigation is dedicated to finding out, what is the impact of deal announcement timing on M&A performance during waves of mergers and acquisitions in developed European countries. To do that, following methodology of waves identification, there were found deals clusterization on investigated market. Using regression analysis it was figured out that time of the announcement has a positive impact on the efficiency of the announced deal. Furthermore, acquirers get higher returns after announcement of the deal in the beginning of a wave.
