Political Representations of Chinese Hockey Players in Russian Sport Media

This study examines the political representations of Chinese hockey players that appear in Russian sport media texts. This research includes the analysis of Russian media texts and interviews with Chinese hockey players. The key point of the study is to reveal how these representations are being built in the Russian press; what is the attitude of Chinese hockey players to the Russian press and the representations itself, and what socio-cultural meanings and other features can be found in representations. The study will show what are the features of discourse of political representations of Chinese hockey players in the Russian press. This paper is also aimed at revealing what mistakes does media and sport press makes in representing Chinese hockey players in the texts. The research presents a qualitative study and includes the method of critical discourse analysis and interviews.
