Nowadays the issue of smart asset allocation is especially vital among institutional and private investors, as well as for a university. For instance, rationally diversified portfolios only, can increase the return and boost the liquidity of the investments in many times. The same with organizing costs. Not a long time ago, the faculty of the author was moved to the new building on Pokrovskiy boulevard, 11. Regarding the public information, there was spent a budget over 1 billion rubles. It is a great amount of money, so author started wondering how could these sums be allocated on financial markets to increase universities utility. Therefore, there was observed the way higher schools using endowment and trust funds implement different trading strategies for their portfolios and if it is possible to act similar on Russian market. As a sample, there will be reviewed world’s top universities mainly - The Ivy League. Every top endowment fund’s portfolio will be reviewed in dynamics, also there will be volatility found and potential return calculated, as well as trading coefficients and statistical analysis. Thus, there will be given reliable advices regarding the experience of western institutional investors, new spheres of investments and smart asset allocation applicable for many huge agents of financial markets who seek for new way of getting profits and hedging risks.
