Since wages in Russia are the main part of peoples’ income, unequal pay for equal men’s and women’s work can lead to increased discrimination on sex in the labour market and beyond. However, despite a fairly wide range of reasons, in many cases, a significant part of the gender pay gap remains unexplained by economic variables. The indicates the need to go beyond the traditional economic approach in analyzing gender inequality in the labour market. This study investigates the gap between women’s and men’s salary in Russia in 2010s using social-demographical factors. Gender pay gap is analyzed using mythology of Oaxaca Blinder decomposition and multifactorial regression. Estimated models gave the results: a part of salary gap could be related to gender discrimination and which is observed in different segments in labour market, for workers with different income.
