Individual and Society in Jia Zhangke's Films

Jia Zhangke is not only the brightest representative of modern Chinese cinema, but also world cinema as a whole, which is confirmed by various international awards and recognition of both Western and Russian film critics. In the course of this study, the characteristic features of the cinematic style of Jia Zhangke films were revealed. So, being one of the most prominent representatives of the "Sixth Generation" of Chinese directors, Jia is developing a new trend in social auteur cinema A study of Jia Zhangke's work revealed three types of relationships between individuals and society. The interpersonal type of relationship is predominant and includes friendships and love relationships. By visualizing the interpersonal relationships of his heroes, filling them with colors and sounds, words and music, building a story about characters from private to general, Jia shows the audience modern China and new types of relationships based on new values.
