The Development of Energy Mix in the EU under the Influence of Energy Competition

The present paper focuses on key trends in the development of the EU fuel and energy balance and it consists of three chapters. The first part contains an analysis of the structure of energy consumption and production with identification of the reasons that influence changes in the EU fuel and energy mix. In the second chapter, we conduct quantitative study, including a cluster analysis of EU countries. As indicators for the grouping, such indicators were chosen that could reflect the country's success in implementing the decarbonization policy. The third chapter assesses the existing programs for the development of the EU energy sector and the prospects for future development based on various forecasts.
