The Impact of Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Policy on the Economic Inequality (USA Case Study)

The trend to decarbonization of economy has become global due to obvious benefits for the society. However, the costs of implementation, such as heightening the economic inequality, still remain unexplored. Understanding of this mechanism is important because the policy that provides equal benefits for each member of the society can not be justified due to its regressive nature. This research tends to provide the assessment of regressivity of cap-and-trade system and carbon taxes in the USA at the national and state level based on household spendings data of different income deciles.
