Student: Zatona Alisa

Educational Programme: Asian Studies (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2020

This work is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of strategies for Russian companies to enter the Japanese market at the present stage. The study primarily examines the main theoretical aspects of the analysis of entry strategies for foreign markets: possible motives for internationalization, existing entry modes, as well as factors affecting the choice of entry mode. The practical part of the work is based on the analysis of the external conditions of the target market - the Japanese market and the internal characteristics of Russian companies that have managed to enter the Japanese market. The relevance of this study is determined by a certain intensification of relations between Russia and Japan in recent years and the lack of studies on this topic. The study found that despite the high risks of uncertainty associated with entering the Japanese market, many Russian companies prefer entry modes with a high level of risk and providing a high level of control. Keywords: entry strategies, FDI, Russian-Japanese relations, motives for the internationalization
