A huge role in improving the situation of working women in South Korea along with the state was played by trade unions, which helped advance the needs of women workers. However, despite the fact that initially the unions consisted mainly of women, gradually men began to dominate in such organizations, and, accordingly, the needs of women workers began to fade into the background. For this reason, in the late 1980s - 1990s, unions consisting exclusively of female members began to appear, such as KWAU, KWWA, KWTU and others. These unions were able to significantly improve the position of women workers, which at that time left much to be desired. In particular, they achieved an increase in maternity leave, the consolidation of the concept of “equal work - equal pay”, support for irregular workers, and much more. However, most of the problems remain unresolved due to many difficulties, such as the inefficiency of cooperation with the state, and many others.
