Features of the Cost Estimation Process in the Construction Projects: the Case of Iraq

The accuracy of construction project cost estimates is pivotal in project success. The construction cost estimate is affected by a number of factors that reduce the level of accuracy of the estimate. The research aims to diagnose the factors most affecting the accuracy of the cost estimation process in Iraqi construction projects. factors that might influence the cost estimation process were identified, then a closed questionnaire was conducted to identifying the most important and influencing factors. The results showed that the most influencing factors in the construction cost estimation process in Iraq are (Experience of pricing construction projects., Impact of project schedules., The available time to prepare the cost estimate. Clarity and detailing of drawings., Integration and relationship of the assessment team, Internal management problems., The level of participation of the project manager financial and administrative corruption and security problems), and that the special circumstances in which Iraq lives is the cause of a number of factors, and that the relative importance of some factors varies between local and international companies.
