This paper examines the influence of political and social factors on the number of artificial terminations of pregnancy in regions of Russian Federation. In Russia the competences of regional authorities in spheres of healthcare and abortions are significantly limited. However, there still is a notable deviation in numbers of pregnancy terminations, conducted in the regions of Russia. The regression analysis showed that such factors as the activity of organisations supporting traditional values, the proportion of urban population, proportion of Christians, Muslims and non-religious people in the region are statistically significant factors.
