Abstarct This work combines several theoretical directions of studying the phenomenon of militarization in an authoritarian state. The main differences are in the direction of analysis and theoretical foundations: 1) militarization as a means of maintaining power and leadership or survival of the regime; 2) militarization as a mechanism aimed at military conflict; 3) militarization as an object of study of global economic trends and partner models of state behavior. On the basis of these theoretical concepts, which were used in the development of the hypotheses of this study, a list of factors that can affect the more vivid manifestations of militarization in authoritarian countries was formed. All data are operationalized for convenient application of quantitative data analysis methodology, and, in particular, regression method of panel data analysis. The structure of my work consists of studying the existing literature in this field and creating a hybrid theoretical approach based on the authoritarian theory of regional survival and the theory of international aggression.
