Effective interaction of authorities and non-profit organizations can serve the development of civil society institutions and improve the quality of life of the population. However, little attention is paid to cooperation at the municipal level. This study addresses the research gap by investigating of the role of interaction of municipal authorities and NPOs in the socio-political life of the population. For this purpose following methods were used: comprehensive literature review, legal acts, statistics and media analysis as well as conducting a survey among representatives of municipal administrations and NPOs. The present study hypothesizes that due to the lack of formal institutions of interaction, municipal authorities and NPOs also use informal methods of cooperation.
