Forecasting Socio-Economic Indicators by means of Search Engine Statistics

The present research demonstrates how to use engine search statistics to forecast socio-economic indicators. Literature review contains several cases which illustrate the use of Google Trends Statistics to forecast such processes as unemployment or household consumption. Empirical research investigates the relevance of Google Statistics for forecasting the unemployment rate in Russia and Russian Region. The results of regression analysis proves that Engine Search Statistics improves unemployment forecast quality in Russia
