The master's thesis is devoted to the research of images of Putin as a combination of macro-frames on «Channel One» in the period before and after the pension reform which caused a decrease in Putin’s personal ratings. The aim of the paper is to identify patterns that the state-controlled media used to transform the image of an incumbent in the face of increasing relative deprivation due to an unpopular economic reform. This has its own specifics, since the current regime is considered to be personalistic authoritarian by political scientists. Author uses the method of quantitative content analysis to identify patterns of representation of leaders of personalistic electoral authoritarianism and additionally offers a survey study of the consolidation of personalistic electoral authoritarianism in Russia.
