The paper presents a study of the factors of sustainable development of coal mining enterprises and diamond mining companies. The goal is to identify factors that also have an impact on the financial stability of coal mining companies, or to prove the absence of any dependence. This goal will be achieved by constructing a mathematical model whose regressants will be selected based on a critical analysis of empirical research. This goal was achieved by constructing a mathematical model, the regressants of which were selected on the basis of a critical analysis of empirical research, as well as the following tasks: to analyze the historical component of the term sustainable development; to study the methodology of economic analysis of sustainable development factors; conduct a critical review of empirical studies of mining factor analysis of mining companies; analyze the policies of ALROSA and SUEK; in the concept of sustainable development; identify the main problems of sustainable development policies in the mining industry; identify factors affecting sustainable development in the mining industry through regression analysis; to identify the relationship between socio-environmental factors of sustainable development and financial sustainability of companies; propose modernization of sustainable development policies for ALROSA and SUEK. Thus, from this empirical study, conclusions were drawn about the interconnections of some factors of sustainable development of mining companies, namely: a policy of increasing the efficiency of water use; staff turnover; energy consumption; the cost of processing total waste; water intake; and their financial stability. Also proposed are measures to improve the concepts of sustainable development for ALROSA and SUEK organization. And on this basis of empirical analysis, for the concept of sustainable development ALROSA and SUEK, measures are proposed to improve existing policies, which together can affect financial stability by 18%: introduce a policy that is responsible for the efficient use of water during extraction, processing of raw materials and other technical activities; reduce water consumption or return of consumed volume; incur waste processing costs of any company activity; reduce energy consumption during the activities of the organization; improve HR policies, to reduce staff turnover.
