This paper reviews the technology of Radio Frequency Identification, RFID tags and readers. Some anti-collision algorithms and tag standards are also considered. The paper explores the application of RFID systems in supply chain, ACS (Management and Access Control system), library systems, and retail. In addition, a prototype device has been developed for automating the process of purchasing goods in a retail store. The prototype is based on Arduino, and the algorithm is written in Python 3, using the libraries "pyserial", "sqlite3", "tkinter", etc. The program scenario is also presented. The results of the work can become a platform for further research and development of devices for automating processes in retail through the use of RFID technology. The explanatory note contains 41 pages, 11 figures, 1 table, 16 sources, and 2 annexes.
