The Effects of Fiscal Policy: Evidence from Regional Perspective

This paper considers the problem of analysis the impact of fiscal policy at the regional level. A review of estimates of fiscal multipliers for different countries, including Russia, is presented for both the entire economy and the economy of regions. The factors affecting the size of the multiplier are highlighted in the paper, as well as the fiscal policy problems of the Russian regions. Methods of estimating fiscal multipliers are considered and a panel vector autoregression is implemented to obtain estimates of fiscal multipliers for regional budgets in Russia.
