Questions of introducing promising approaches for analyzing the volume and structure of tourist flows based on big data will be considered in this work. Currently, outdated and imperfect approaches are mainly used in the field of tourism statistics, and management decisions on the development of the tourism industry are made in the absence of reliable information about the tourist flow. At the same time, there are a number of solutions based on the analysis of large spatial data, which in theory can significantly improve the quality of the information obtained. In Russia, they have not received proper distribution. As part of the work, a two-stage empirical study will be conducted to assess the main limitations and opportunities for the widespread introduction of digital approaches to the analysis of the volume and structure of tourist flows, followed by the formation of recommendations for the implementation of the potential and development of modern approaches to the full extent throughout the country.
