Structure Analysis of the Russian Timber Industry

The last two decades of political and economic reforms have shown that Russia's timber industry complex is difficult to adapt to market relations and the requirements of world market. Russian Ministry of Economic Development notes the main reasons for the unsatisfactory functioning of the industry are inefficient forest management, depletion of the resource base in the regions of logging, the opacity of the markets for commercial timber and lumber, low market competition and insufficient degree of processing wood raw materials. Achieving positive results in this direction is based on a detailed analysis of the wood industry, studying foreign markets and identifying possible prospects for Russia in the timber market.
