This work is devoted to the analysis of the state language policy implementation in the field of school education. This topic has been a regular part of the recent reports of international organizations studying minority rights in the Russian Federation due to the ambiguous situation with the legal regulation of language education policy, as well as with recent developments of this question in correlation with socio-political agenda. In this work, we proceed from the fact that every citizen of the Russian Federation has the right to study and preserve his native languages. The content of this work includes examination of principle legislative acts dealing with language policy at the federal and regional levels, analysis of perspectives and challenges of minority language education in Russia.
