In this paper, the types of pension systems of different countries and Russia are examined in detail, the types of reform and the experience of the countries of the European Union are analyzed. Also, an analysis of the effects of raising the retirement age has been carried out and an answer has been found to the question whether the pension reform being carried out in Russia will really increase the workforce. This topic was chosen due to the fact that in 2019 in Russia there was an increase in the retirement age set by the state for men and women. This topic, more relevant than ever at the moment, will help to understand the true causes and goals of the reform. The aim of the work is to study the effect of increasing the age of retirement on the importance of labor in the Russian Federation. To clarify this effect, an array of statistical data on the state of the workforce for the period from 1999 to 2018 was collected. The collected data were analyzed in sections - age, gender, etc. All these types of analysis were necessary to more accurately determine the influence of factors on the size of the workforce with increasing retirement age.
