The Relationship between the Level of Corruption and Gender Inequality: Social Policy as a Mediator

In this paper, the purpose of the study is to determine the impact of the level of corruption on gender inequality through the effect of social policy of the state. We use the methodology of statistical analysis with the construction of a regression model where social policy serves as a mediation variable. The study is based on panel data from a sample of 46 countries for 2006-2016. The expected results of the study may indicate the significance of the impact of corruption on gender inequality through the mediation of social policy. In the introduction actuality of work is determined by the degree of scientific elaboration of the topic and contains a statement of the research problem, the purpose, tasks and research methods, discloses theoretical and practical significance of the work. The first chapter examines the social policy of the state as part of the concept of the welfare state facing the problem of gender inequality, defines corruption and reveals its aspect in relation to gender inequality. Then we theorize the mechanism of influence of the level of corruption on gender inequality through social policy. The second chapter is devoted to the empirical part of the study with the use of regression model, where a dependent variable is gender inequality and independent variables are the level of corruption and social policy. In conclusion, we define the relationship between the level of corruption and gender inequality through direct effect of corruption and indirect effect through social policy.
