Educational Programme: Economics (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2020

The study evaluates the wage gap between employed individuals who combined work and study at the undergraduate program and who did not work during education. In addition, this research accounts for different stages of career ladder as it may influence of the estimated wage gap. The data used for the study is taken from the RLMS between 2010 and 2018. Respondents were divided into groups based on their employment type during education. In order to analyze the wage gap between studied groups we apply three-fold decomposition with the Heckman correction. Obtained results show that work experience positively affects the wages of respondents who had full-time and part-time job, whereas the wage of respondents who worked irregularly does not significantly differ from those, who did not work at all. At the same time, the wage gap in the initial stages of career for individuals who had full-time and part-time job from those who did not work is nearly the same. Nevertheless, in the middle stage of career we observe that respondents who had a part-time job save the wage gap, whereas the difference in wages of respondents who had a full-time job and who did not work during education declines.
