The family is a constant system, which people continue to be apart of throughout their life. Through the process of emotional self-disclosure we create an opportunity for an interlocutor to accept us or reject us through their communication. This study examines the characteristics of emotional self-disclosure in adolescents within the context of intra-family relationships. The study used such methods as: Questionnaire Family Adaptation and Cohesion Scale (FACES-3 Questionnaire / D. H. Olson Test) (cohesion scale), Kholmagorova’s methodology, “Family Emotional Communications”, and the “Idea of Emotional Self-disclosure” questionnaire "(ESR) (Tepina M.N. and I.P. Shkuratova., 2008) as well as the methodology of Wasserman L.I.," Teenagers about parents “(PoR). The study involved 100 students aged 14-17 years (average age = 15.65; standard dev. = 0.6). This study revealed; a tendency of uneven involvement by mothers and fathers in the lives of their children and a significant influence by maternal attitudes on emotional self-disclosure in teenagers. We found that the family structure, the teenagers’ perceptions of parental behaviour and adolescent emotional self disclosure are interconnected. The hypothesis that the characteristics of emotional self-disclosure in adolescents is mediated by the family system is accepted.
