The effect of nameability on the categorization process is an active area of research. It is known that the complexity of category learning can vary depending on many factors. Zettersten & Lupyan (2020) have shown that one such factor may be the degree of nameability of features of a category. Recent studies have confirmed that this effect really depends on linguistic features and is related to verbalization. However, this process is still not sufficiently understood. The purpose of this study is to gain more knowledge about the categorization process. In the first part of the study, we carried out a modified experimental procedure using light-blue and dark-blue colors. According to our assumptions, for Russian-speaking subjects, the accuracy of category learning should not differ from “high nameability” condition. As a result, we found a significant difference in accuracy with both other groups - the subjects accuracy in “blue” condition was even less than in the “low nameability” condition. In the second part of the experiment we varied the degree of nameability of the feature itself, while in previous studies we studied the effect of nameability of values within the feature. Thus, the ease of naming the values of features in this case did not differ - only the ease of naming the features themselves. According to the results of the experiment, accuracy did not differ between groups of different degrees. This new data is interesting for us because it reveals new details and, especially, new limitations for the area of naming effect.
