Student: Shabarshin Mikhail

Supervisor: Anatoly Skvortsov

Faculty: Faculty of Social Sciences

Educational Programme: Psychology (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2020

The topic of gender has been popular especially in recent decades, especially in Russia. Despite the fact that a vast area of psychology and sociological sciences is studying this construct, the relationship between gender and mental illnesses is not sufficiently disclosed. Basically, modern research in these areas focuses on violations of gender identity, which in turn cause accompanying mental disorders, but the opposite effect, that is, the effect of mental disorders on identity, is extremely rare. In particular, there is a significant gap in knowledge about how borderline personality disorder relates to gender identity, and this work aims to fill this gap. This study can help psychologists and psychotherapists understand the gender characteristics of people with personality disorder.
