The automotive industry is undergoing a big transformation and the traditional way of making business in the industry may also change. In this work the reader should get acquainted with the industry at the global level and also the local market of the Russian Federation. It will introduce the main players and two main theories that will be used to describe the challenges of introducing electric vehicles (EVs) in Russia. After a careful (though not exhaustive) research and analysis of the global level and the Russian market, the final aspect of this work is to propose the optimal business model for a dealership to operate. It is known that car sharing services and the era of the industry 5.0 is upon us, and to cope with that, the dealership model of the past has to be adapted to operate in an online mode, as it’s already being done by most automakers. As a result, it should be determined which strategic action a dealership should take to thrive in the industry, and which kind of business model is the adequate response for short and medium-term in the market.
