Major Sports Media Events in the Formation of Saint-Petersburg Citizens’ Public Opinion

The purpose of this work was to study the public opinion of St. Petersburg's residents regarding major sporting events that were held or will be held in the city. The study was conducted using the content analysis of VK's posts via the case of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. One of the important results is the mixed opinion of the city's residents about major sporting events. The results were compared with the cases of other countries and cities presented in the literature review.
