The study analyzes CSR practices of SIBUR from the point of view of their acceptance and adaptation by citizens, as well as from the point of view of the potential of these practices to create a new urban identity, which allows to feel the connection between the enterprise (its staff) and citizens. The purpose of the study was to find out the cohesion mechanisms between the company, representatives of state authorities and the local community, the reasons why CSR practices are supported, accepted and adapted by citizens, contributing to cohesion or vice versa. We were also interested in studying the cohesion based on the new values offered by CSR programs and finding out what these values are. In addition, the research tasks included analysis and systematization of existing restrictions for the development of CSR practices. In our case, the case study methodology was chosen due to the uniqueness of the case and the ability to solve research problems only on the example of practical experience. The empirical part of the study contains three blocks that allow us to evaluate the SIBUR case methodologically from different sides: a series of in-depth interviews, content analysis of secondary sources, and content analysis of social networks of urban public. The results of our study revealed that the goal of creating active and responsible communities in cities that unite the company, its employees, partners, contractors and city residents on the basis of shared values has not been realized by the company. Strong and weak patterns of cohesion and values that contribute to their maintenance are identified and analyzed. The study analyzes the local community, characterized by the blurring of the new identity of the citizen, which has not yet been created, and does not unite residents – local and newcomers-around the values transmitted by SIBUR.
