The paper provides a comprehensive study on the corporate venture capital investment. This research aims to identify what are the most effective venture capital investment methods. The purpose of the article is an empirical verification of the relationship between the characteristics of corporate venture capital funds and their profitability. Corporate venture capital funds are important elements of corporate innovation strategy. Despite this, there is still no consensus in the academic literature about how much different ways of investing affect the profitability of ideas. The paper is an attempt to learn the factors that are most important for the organization of innovative activities using traditional venture capital investments and substantiate this influence. The study was performed by the method of correlation and regression analysis. The sample consists of the largest funds of countries belonging to BRICS. As a result of the analysis, the main drivers of CVC funds return growth were identified, among them the amount of capital, the age of the fund and its business activity.
