Evaluation of Regional Innovative Development in Russia

The model of innovative development is becoming a priority direction for many countries, including Russia. The ability to adapt to dynamic market conditions through the implementation of innovations is becoming crucial in the modern world. Nowadays, the Russian innovation system faces a number of obstacles. The way of overcoming them primarily requires high-quality monitoring of innovation activity at the regional level. The paper studies the impact of various macroeconomic indicators on the level of innovation activity of organizations. In particular, the study evaluates influence of indicators of various types of financing, the investment climate of regions, their scientific and educational potential and foreign economic activity. The research is carried out by regression analysis of panel data for 85 regions of Russia in the period from 2014 to 2017. According to the results of the model with fixed effects, the innovative activity of organizations is significantly influenced by the provision of financing of technological innovations, investment in fixed assets, export activity, as well as the presence of leading universities on the territory of the regions.
