In connection with the existing fluctuations in the financial well-being of the population, which directly affects the living standards of households, there is a need to understand how the deterioration of the financial situation affects family saving strategies. The study makes an attempt to trace the relationship of socio-demographic characteristics of the household to its methods and strategies of economy in the context of urban and rural population. A theoretical analysis of literary sources revealed that despite a rather long history of studying the relationship of demographic characteristics of households with methods and strategies of consumption and economy - from a demographic point of view, the problems are still not sufficiently disclosed. In the empirical part of the study we presented descriptive statistics and justification of the selected database as well as a regression analysis. According to the objectives of the study, we built contingency tables. The existing database is closed and unique, as it is the product of a commercial organization engaged in sociological research. Two points of research help us to say about insignificance, but still the stability of the available data and verify information based on the analysis of each wave.
