Today rank-order tournaments became the pervasiveness for many institutional spheres. The presence of relative-performance evaluation can either reduce or increase the agents’ effort provision and his outcomes. We conduct an online experiment using winner-take-all payment scheme in order to estimate agents’ reaction to the rank feedback. We found significant difference in behavior after receiving the rank-order feedback. We also investigated that there is some shift from monetary motivation to the self-improvement among females that is induced by received rank information, while for males monetary motivation is a core independently of the rank positions. Keywords: rank feedback, relative-performance evaluation, winner-take-all payment scheme, motivational shifts.
