This graduate qualification paper explores the business models of circular economy as an element of sustainable development. Our research is aimed at studying foreign and Russian experience in transition to a closed-cycle economy, identifying business models of circular economy used in Russian companies in the furniture industry, and barriers to the implementation of these models. Using such research methods as case studies, surveys and interviews, we have identified factors contributing to and hindering the development of the circular economy in Russia, and developed recommendations for implementing circular business models adapted to Russian companies in the furniture business sector.
