Vladimir Andreevich Prince of Serpukhov (1353–1410): A Prosopographical Study

This study is devoted to the political career of Vladimir Prince (knyaz) of Serpukhov, who was one of the members of the Moscow house of Rurik dynasty or Rurikids. The main purpose of the research is to study the political career of Vladimir Prince of Serpukhov. Moreover, the political context of Russia in the XIV-XV centuries is also need to be investigated. The object of our research will be a corpus of sources, which includes chronicles, wills and political treaties (dukhovnyye and dogovornyye gramoty), hagiographic sources and literary monuments of the Kulikovo cycle. The subject of our research is the political career of Vladimir Andreevich. The work will consist of three chapters, each of them is devoted to each particular period of prince’s life. The first chapter will focus on the prince’s childhood and youth, the second shapter covers the period of the Battle of Kulikovo and relates events and political processes. The last chapter is consecrated on the period after the Battle of Kulikovo and the further development of relations with grand duke (velikiy knyaz) Dmitry Donskoy and his son Vasily I.
