Adolescent alcohol behavior has many negative consequences, such as lower academic performance and increased levels of emotional stress (Crosnoe, Muller and Frank, 2004). This study applied a qualitative methodology to understand how relationships between parents and their adolescent children affect adolescent alcohol behavior. 16 interviews were collected with vocational schools’ students. It was concluded that 1) children of non-drinking parents tend to copy their behaviour, while adolescents whose parents misuse alcohol told about two different behaviour patterns: copying parent’s behaviour and avoid it; 2) interest in alcohol is the main motivation for initiation with parents, while initiation with peers is also can be connected with peers’ pressure; 3) The amount of information that a youth shares with his or her parents depends on the expected parents’ reaction.
