Over the last decade, the number of innovations and developments in areas referred to artificial intelligence (AI) such as computer vision, self-driving cars, natural language processing and comprehension, robotics and decision-making processes highly increased due to constant information technology progress. Breakthroughs in this area attracts attention of society as some of them starting to be a part of people’s everyday life and others can raise controversial ethical questions. Internet media and social networks are enhancing people’s awareness about new developments, although information can be misinterpreted by lay people what may lead to inadequate expectations or concerns about AI. The aim of the current research is to estimate public attitudes towards the implementation of AI into our everyday life. The main theoretical construct in this paper is the theory of technology acceptance. The core research questions are the following: 1) what are people’s attitudes towards artificial intelligence in Russian Social Internet media, 2) how these attitudes differ among AI-related areas that are proposed by Russian Internet media. Regarding methods of this research paper, I used topic modelling and sentiment-analysis of comments to news articles which are related to artificial intelligence. As a result, it was found that neutral or negative sentiment prevails, however, in some cases it can depend on the news area through which AI is discussed.
