Year of Graduation: 2020

This graduation thesis deals with the logistic business-processes and how their interconnection with organizational structure affects their efficiency. The aim of this paper is to show that the improvement in logistic business-process efficiency may be possible due to a change in organizational structure. Firstly, theoretical background of logistic business-processes and organizational structure interconnection in logistics and supply chain management was formed. Then some business-process modelling techniques incorporating organizational structure parameters were studied. To test the hypothesis, stated earlier, procurement process in two different organizational structures has been simulated in AnyLogic. One of the structures contains a procurement department which integrates several functions. Discrete-event paradigm was chosen as simulation modelling technique because it allows to look at the procurement process as a queueing system. Output information of simulation and parameters variation experiments has shown the following. Procurement process efficiency in the organizational structure with an integrated department is higher on condition that the department can handle more than 2 requests at a time. The results have shown the effect organizational structure has on the logistic business-process efficiency. This study deepens the understanding of logistic business-processes and organizational structure interconnection and introduces a simulation model as a research approach. Keywords: logistic business-process, organizational structure, discrete-event simulation modeling
