Prosodic Characteristics of English Debates

This work is aimed to identify the prosodic features in the speech of the participants of the debate and to determine their role in the conveying information and influencing the interpretation of discourses. The prosodic characteristics of public speaking is considered in terms of argumentation and dynamic styles of each participant to achieve the goal of persuasion. This work allows us to clarify and generalize scientific ideas about the prosodic characteristics of debates. The results obtained may be of interest for the further investigation of the problem of implementation of various features of prosody in conveying argumentation and interpretation in debate discourse.
