Currently, the development of financial markets has opened new instruments for investing capital, so it is difficult for an investor to understand its diversity. One of the easiest ways to deposit money is to deposit with a credit institution. But, in addition, there are other tools for investing money. One of these investment tools are mutual funds and ETFs. Open-end mutual funds, and subsequently ETF exchange funds, are the financial instrument of individual investors in the USA, which are used for pension savings. The development of the collective investment industry in Russia, which began in the first half of the 90s of the last century, is still in its infancy, as evidenced by indicators of the number of investors, assets of mutual funds and other parameters. The outbreak of the financial crisis exacerbated the problem of mutual funds. In addition, in recent years, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have begun to actively develop. In this regard, the work devoted to a comparative analysis of the activities of mutual investment funds and ETFs is very relevant.
