Improvement of Public Policy for Planning New Urban Territories

The thesis on the topic “Improving the state policy for the planning of new urban territories” is devoted to the development of new urban territories in the world and their attractiveness to potential population. Data on the target population numbers and the degree to which they were achieved in 149 new urbanized areas of the world were collected and calculated. Next, 18 factors related to city planning and management policies and mechanisms and the socio-economic situation in the territory, which may potentially have an influence on the attractiveness of the territory for the population, were identified. Data for each factor was collected. Then, the significance of the connection between the factors and the degree to which population goals were achieved was calculated using General linear modeling, identifying aspects of social context and city planning which affect the success of the project. Based on the result of the statistical analysis, recommendations for the new urban area projects were formulated. Key words: planned town, urban territory, urbanization, city planning.
