Suburban passenger transportation has an important social significance: it provides transport mobility to populations. The negative dynamics of the number of passengers carried in the suburban traffic in Russia indicates an aggravation of current problems in the suburban complex and a need to apply logistical solutions for function and development. The problem is relevant, because the existing system of how participants interact with each other alongside regional authorities does not ensure an efficient operation of the suburban complex. The goal of this bachelor thesis is to develop and propose recommendations for an interaction system of the market participants to increase the effectiveness of commuter passenger transportation. To achieve this goal, an analysis was carried out and the main problems of the commuter passenger transportation market were identified; the world experience in organizing suburban passenger transportation was studied and the main features of the Russian market were determined; and the suburban passenger transport system of a specific region of Russia was investigated and existing obstacles to development were identified. On the basis of the theoretical foundations of improving the industry market performance, a system of criteria and indicators was introduced. This approach allows a quantitative assessment of market performance and its further monitoring while ensuring to consider the specific features of the target market. Using this system, an assessment of the regional market effectiveness was conducted, and its weaknesses were identified. As a result, a system of recommendations for improving the market under study performance through the introduction of multimodal transportation was created and the effectiveness of the proposed measures was calculated. The practical significance of the results lies in the possibility of their real application by the regional passenger transport authorities for the rational organization of suburban transportation.
