This paper examines the competencies of project managers in the field of blockchain technology application that are in demand on the market. Moreover, the comparison of the identified competencies and of those recorded in ICB IPMA standard was made. The research methodology involves a quantitative statistical analysis of the requirements presented in the job advertisements for project managers in the field of Blockchain technology application on the online labor exchanges "Indeed" and "Headhunter". Further interpretation of requirements as competencies according to the ICB IPMA standard was made. The results of the research concluded that the set of competencies presented in the ICB IPMA standard is not exhaustive for training a project manager in the sphere of blockchain technologies application. Based on the results of the research, new competency elements were identified, namely: knowledge of a foreign language, knowledge of the blockchain and related software, programming, knowledge of MS Office programs
